Kief testing

    So I worked for a grower this summer, nice old couple. We trimmed the big buds and put the little ones through a machine. At the end of the season he offers me a half pound. I sampled a QP (because I had shared some nice yellow stuff with them earlier the season) However the stuff I picked up (He lives 40 minutes away in the hills) I noticed it was a greenish brown, at first I dismissed it and didn't want to hassle the old man and his disabled wife over purity. But I got all the way home with my friend and looked through the bag to find HAIRS EVERYWHERE, some parts the hairs had bound together and looked like lint. I sent it back through his granddaughter and she brought back a bag hair free but still greenish brown. 
    My assumption is that he swept up the work areas and called it kief. I'm sure there's some in there but I really feel like it's mostly ground up vegetation and sediment. I know that when testing soil you can fill a mason jar with water and a sample, shake it up, and observe the layers that are formed. Is there a similar process with Kief? I'd return it again but I'd rather not shake down an old man and his disabled wife (not to mention the tweaker son who lives on the property) But if I do I want to show him evidence. If there is at least some THC in there I'd like to extract it if I don't return it.
    SO bottom line.............
    How do I analyze kief composition? 
    How do I extract the goods from the dirty?

    It gets me a lesser high, like resin without the headache. I think it's just placebo because I'm smoking like 2g bowls of "kief" and I don't notice much difference, I just hit it, do I sound high?

    I've always been disappointed by the straight kief I've smoked (various dispensary deals). Never seemed to give as strong a high as I was expecting. Tasted nice though. It always seems to go further to enhance bud for me, or as a slightly more compressed (ideally without being fully pressed) hash.

    To respond to your question tho op, when I'm dry of buds I smoke straight kief. I keep my kief from diff strains separate and I notice it really depends on the strain as to exactly how strong it is. When I start it'll kick my ass for a couple days than my body adjusts. I feel like my pure kief high is much more enjoyable through a bong and is clearer than smoking buds of the same strain.
